Today I read an article on the first settlers, I have done this because we are doing something called the summer learning journey. Whitc means we have to blog about lots of writing and article. This article is about the first settlers.
Did you know it's been believed that the first people to travel to New Zealand came from Polynesia. Also the people that came to New Zealand came 700 years ago and originally came from a different country not New Zealand. Once they settled in they made up a culture called 'Maori'.
After I read the articulate I read a story about Maui and the Giant Fish, here are some facts about the story. Murirangawhenua said Maui would be a great fisherman, Maui caught the biggest fish out of all the brothers, Maui stowed away in the waka. Here are some books that Maui has been in: Maui and The Sun, Maui and the Giant fish, The fish of Maui, How Maui Defied the Goddess of Death, How Maui Found the Secret of Fire.

Mine is Maui and the Sun because I love the idea that he created more daylight. This would be so awesome as it'd mean more time to be at the beach swimming! What is your favourite activity during summer?
