Activity 1: Celebrating a Win
In 2000 when we had just won the sailing race every one was celebrating. Some people had a party some people celebrate at home or some people have a family dinner. We normally have a Barbecue with friends. Did you know that on my Mum and Dad got marred on the day that they won in sailing and they had there wedding in Waiheke so they could see the sailing from the apartment they were staying in.
Activity 2: Lord of the Rings
Imagine that instead of spending the money on the movies, Peter Jackson decided to give all of this money to you. Lucky you! On your blog, tell us what you would do with $300 million dollars. How would you spend it? It is a lot of money so please think carefully about it and spend it wisely. If I had $300 million doller's I would:
Buy a nice house that has a pool and a spa, then I would buy a boat and invite my friends to go sailing with me. Then I would donate the rest of the money to charity and give some money to people living on the street.
Bonus Activity: The Rise of the ‘Selfie’
In the 2000 taking a selfie was the new thing after people took a selfie they would post it online. Now lots of people do it but know we put it on Instagram, Twitter or Snapchat. Here is a selfie of me doing something I really enjoyed.
Here is a Selfie of Indie and I taking a selfie because I love playing with my friends.

Activity 1: Celebrating a Win
Thank you for sharing a personal and positive story about your parents, I’m sure they had a wonderful time then. Like you, I too have barbeques with my family and friends when it is time to celebrate especially on birthdays as well as Christmas and New Years. We also like to have plenty of pool parties with lots of music in the summer. How do you celebrate birthdays? Have you ever gone to a special place?
Activity 2: Lord of the Rings
I think it’s great you want to treat yourself and your friends as well as help out the needy, it’s very gracious to want to share your wealth with others. You’ve mentioned a lot of plans for your 300 million dollars, I can tell you really took the time to think about it carefully. About donating, do you have any particular charities in mind?
I’d definitely donate to schools who need equipment to help with their learning. I’d also donate to charities; World Vision, SPCA, World Animal Protection, Kids can, Canteen, The Cancer Society, Youthline and Rainbow Youth. Those are some charities I know my money would really help support people and animals in need.
Bonus Activity: The Rise of the ‘Selfie’
Loving the selfie you’ve posted, is your friend Indie the best friend whom you mentioned moved to Japan? You’ve said that you like to play with friends, is it your favourite thing to do? If not please include a hobby you like to do, so I can give you full points for this activity. One of my favourite things to do is hang out with my family and friends, often when we’re together we take a heap of selfies and snaps!
It was lovely reading your post, please remember to make use of pictures, slideshows or videos to make you posts stand out even more!
And just a reminder for next time, could you please ensure you post each activity on a separate blog post? It makes it easier to read your great work as well as keep track of your points! Also comments can a bit too long (like this one) and I’d really like to write wonderfully detailed comments for each of your posts.
I look forward to reading more over the summer, keep up the good work!

Hey Lilli-Rose ,
ReplyDeleteThis is Jade C from the Summer Learning Journey team! I will also be reading and commenting on your activity blog posts over the summer holidays. It's great to see that you have been really active completing the SLJ activities. Keep up the amazing work :)
Getting married in a beautiful island like Waiheke is something that I've always dreamed of! Recently, I've been to the Waiheke Island with my family and we went to this beautiful place called 'Mudbrick vineyard & restaurant'. The garden was filled with beautiful flowers with different colours, there were trees with bright green leaves, and people there were really kind! We have special Christmas family parties on Christmas eve. We have Christmas carols as a background music and have a really chocolatey cake ready on the table. We spend around 30 minutes to write special cards for every member of the family and we give presents to each other. I like spending Christmas eve with my family, it's been a long family tradition as we have been doing this for almost every single year since I was born!
I really liked reading and commenting on your blog. I look forward to hear back from you :)
Cheers,
Jade C.
Great to see you have started your Summer Learning Journey. I'd love to see more posts and I hope you are adding many comments to other student's blogs. These activities will help you practice the skills you have learnt throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteKia Ora Lilli-Rose,
ReplyDeleteIt's so awesome to see the amount of work you've been doing with the Summer Learning Journey. I've really enjoyed reading your blogposts!
What an incredible day for your parents to get married. For them to be able to see the sailing too, that would make for a truly magical day. Have you ever been to Waiheke? My Aunty and Uncle had their wedding on Waiheke Island last year, it was such a beautiful event.
What a great selfie of you and Indie! What do you girls like to do in your holidays? In my summer break I went camping with my friends at Pataua beach, we went sea biscuiting and read a lot of books. It was bliss.
Keep up the awesome work, you've got until the 26th of January to complete as many activities from our programme as you like.
