Rarotonga's Culture

Title: Rarotonga’s Culture

Kia orana (hi in Cook islands Maori) everyone,  a few days ago I was in Rarotonga and I want you to know about what I learnt. I want to tell you not about my time but about the culture of Rarotonga. So I hope you learn a lot about Rarotonga’s culture here is my example.

Their and Our culture together
Do you know that in the Cook Islands our tribes were named after the Islands.  Also  do you know that the Cook Islands asked for Britain's and our protection from the French. In the Cook islands they also have Maori basically the same as our Maori but a bit different here are some examples. We say kia ora, they say kia orana. We say waka, they say vaka. We say hoe, they say oe.

  2. Kia ora Lilli-Rose,
It’s Molly from Te Ngahere. Rarotonga is beautiful country. You are lucky to have been there! Maori and Rarotongan culture are different but in some ways similar aswell, I learnt about the different pronunciations of Rarotongan words. Keep it up!
